Job Opening: Metal Fabricator

Position Description: Metal Fabricator
Reporting to Director, Operations Manager, Workshop Supervisor

Position Overview:

Role Status: Full Time Annualised Salary
Expected hours of work: 40 hour min – up to 50 hours (4 day work week typically 6am – 4:30 Monday to Thursday)

As a Metal Fabricator you will be required to:

  • Undertake a solid variety of metal fabrication using Stainless steel, Steel, Aluminium, Copper and Brass
  • Fabrication of staircases, balustrades and toprails  from working drawings
  • Fabrication of other custom items from working drawings
  • Complete both the fabrication, polishing and installation aspect of the job.
  • When necessary you will be required to attend site to be involved in onsite welding and installation requirements.
  • Possess good knowledge of welding and welding machinery
  • Ability to work unsupervised in the workshop and on-site
  • Undertake quality checks of your own work in progress
  • Problem solve any issues with measurement discrepancies within your own work in progress
  • Work out cut lengths and angles from drawings provided and if in doubt ask questions of your supervisor to ensure all information is provided before beginning work.
  • Ability to read working drawings and accurately calculate measurements.
  • Maintain work accuracy in all aspects of manufacture. Tolerances will be identified with each job given.
  • Create high quality, high end masterpieces of work for our clients who love the quality we can produce.

  • Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimise waste and damage.
  • Follow safe working procedures and systems. SWMS
  • Ensure you are clear on what is scheduled for you for the day.  Ask your supervisor or job manager if unsure.
  • Contribute to a harmonious cultured Environment, team building and assisting one another as required. (In particular growth of our apprentices)
  • Ensure housekeeping is ongoing by maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
  • Follow  safety and guidance given during daily huddles and weekly meetings.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are secure and used correctly.
  • Receive and despatch goods when necessary following procedure given.
  • Always Striving for Excellence within and outside of the company.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery equipment and mobile equipment as directed.
  • Follow Quality Control Procedures on fabrication and pre installation of work
  • Ability to problem solve as break-downs occur
  • Re-ordering of parts as necessary

You must keep current:

  • Driver’s licence
  • Trades certification
  • White Card
